Technology

Technology definitely helped our project move along very smoothly without too many communication problems. Email was huge in our group, we coordinated pretty much everything/everyones tasks through email, and we were able to keep communicating on our progress very easily through email. Blackboard was also very helpful in staying coordinated and staying on the same page in dealing with different documents and information. We were able to post documents for eachother to easily see and download, which made collaboration very straight forward.

So overall technology proved to be extremely helpful, there weren't any real problems with technology, other than someone forgetting to check their email and little things like that. It was great to see our project come together so smoothly and without many big problems.

Ethics

In class this week we learned a lot of ethics and principles. When I go to enter the business world and am in the workforce, I believe ethics plays one of the major roles in every business environment. If your trying to put a deal together of any sort there are usually two parties, a buyer and a seller. Credibility plays a huge role in terms of making or breaking a deal sometimes, and someones reputation of their principles and ethics comes into play. If you can't trust a buyer or seller because they have a reputation of not coming through on orders, or messing orders up, then you are very likely to be hesitant, and maybe take your business elsewhere to have that security. In a working environment where you deal with coworkers on a day to day basis, peoples principles are very important, I believe that if you say your going to do something you need to do it, to me, keeping your word and telling the truth about things is the most important facet to any business related relationship, because it allows people to be more comfortable and work together better and more eficiently if they are always on the same page.

Info Miscommunication

I have had a couple jobs so far in my life, but I haven't seen many big miscommunications, the biggest miscommunications I've seen so far has been playing golf. I was playing in a tournament trying to qualify for my first U.S. Junior Amateur when I was 15 years old. I was on the second at holes with a good chance to qualify, and I was in the middle of the fairway on the 8th hole for my second shot. My caddie routinely got my yardage for me and walked it off to be 164 yards to the hole. Taking into account other factors i played for this yardage and hit it 10 yards over the green, right away I checked to make sure I hit the right club, and I did, and I asked my caddie if he gave me the right yardage. He walked off the yardage and realized it was 154 yards to the hole, not 164. I didn't get upset, but I ended up making a costly bogey which I later had to make up in the round to qualify for the Junior Championship.

March 8th

Out of the last presentations I enjoyed the one that informed us about the democratic party. Being a republican, it was nice to hear facts about the democratic party that were from a very objective point of view, it showed both the strengths and weaknesses and didn't seem very biased.

I haven't had any experience with online portfolio's so this will be a new experience for me, but I am looking forward to learning how to do one.

3 presentations

One of the presentations I enjoyed was Stephanie's about Locks of Love. She was very thorough in her explanation of how the non-prfit organization works and she also provided the right amount of concise information for the guidelines of the project. Another project I liked was the one about jet propultion packs where you wear the pack and it propels water so you can hover 10-15 feet above the water. It was interesting to hear about and I haven't heard of anything like that. It was presented in an entertaining, but yet informing manner. And lastly, the presentation about the decathalon really caught my attention because I never knew how much preparation went into one. The presentation was well organized and I think the presenter gained a lot of respect among her peers for how difficult and demanding her sport is. All in all the three presentations mentioned were compelling and motivating and were all delivered confidently and were well organized.

Client Project

Our group seems to work very well together, we are all pretty laid back and willing to meet halfway on a lot of different topics. We have different majors and different interests which will really help the completeness of our project. We have some good ideas generating about how to attack the issue of campus health, and with a marketing major, a management major, and a graphic design major we plan on putting together a well thought out plan that adresses the main issues of todays college campus health ratings in todays world. My biggest concern is that we have so many ideas floating around that it will be tough to narrow our focus and accomplish our objectives, but I think that because everyone in the group is so easy going we should be okay.

Biggest Job interview Mistakes

I think that these top 5 job interview mistakes are definitely big mistakes. But to me the biggest job interview mistake is to act ininterested during the interview, or to not know much about the position you are interviewing for. If you don't know much about the position, it shows that you make think the job is beneath you, or that you really just don't care. If you do your homework on the position and make it clear that you have the right skills for that job I think you give yourself the best oppertunity you have to win that position.

Open Topic

Since we can write about anything in class for todays topic, I want to celebrate how many great people that are in my life, mostly just family and friends... And after 20 years I've figured out that there are many things that define you in life but your family is at the top of the list, and I'm thankful for that.

In Ten Years

In ten years I will be 30 years old, and I see my career/life going in one of two directions by then. After school I plan on turning professional in golf and I plan on giving myself 3-4 years to see if I can make a comfortable life for myself and a family. If that doesn't work out I plan on getting some kind of job in real estate, I like to be outdoors and considering my dad has been successful with that I could learn a lot from him and hopefully start my own business. By 30 years old I definitely want to be married and hopefully start having kids, so financially I will have to be prepared for that. But who knows, in 10 years it could be a lot different than both of those scenario's, so we'll see.

The Machine is Us/ing Us

The title of the video poses a question right off the bat, it makes you think about how much technology is affecting our lives, and how much it is defining who our generation is. The web is becoming a virtual reality where a lot of people actually spend most of their daily lives in. My generation grew up with a lot of technology in our daily lives compared to our parents, its hard to imagine what world our children will grow up in terms of how much technology is in our lives, which leads back to the title of the video, the machine is us, or using us? And I think it poses the question of the dangers that we will be so dependent on technology that we won't be able to live without it.
